Need help with better fps

pls make a post on how i can achieve better fps ingame

1. Reformat HD
2. New Hardware(cpu, ram, graphics card, ect.)
3. Lower Graphic settings for Windows
4. Lower Graphic settings for CS
-Options
-Shaders
-Textures
-Gamma
-Terrain Detail
5. New Computer??

Heres a few that should give you a boost in fps without changing the look of the game much. To use this create a new text document and copy this into the document.

now click to save as : autoexec.cfg

Make sure you save it as a .cfg file not a .txt file

next open your Counter Strike Source Folder
then go to the folder cstrike/cfg
then place the autoexec.cfg in the cfg folder

now everytime you start your game those settings will be loaded

There are a ton more settings you can tweak I will take a look through them and post more.
And I assume you would have already done it but dont forget to go into the options menu and then to the video tab. There you can turn down the resolution. Lowing the resolution can give you a big improvement in fps. Also while your on the video tab click on the advanced button. There you can select several graphis settings like shadowing texture quality ect. Turning these setting to a lower setting will also give you a boost in fps. I suggest you turn all the graphics down to the lowest setting or off and run your game for awhile if you dont get lag then pick 1 setting to turn up and repeat the process until you find the best settings for your computer.

I have all my settings maxed so Im not sure what all the best tweaks are anymore but I will post some others that should help people with slower video cards get some extra fps.

Yeah that should help but keep in mind many of those settings will effect the look of the game.
Also keep in mind those net settings may not be the best for your net speeds and server rates differ.

Me I have everything maxed out so tweaking for me is not relevant. I get between about 180 to 300 fps.

Try turning everything as low as possible and see what your lowest fps is.
might just be your system or network bandwith maxing out.. In that case you might consider a upgrade. I couldnt play at 10fps...

Im getting great FPS with my 8800gt 512MB vid card. if you could buy the 8600gt video card your fps will be great

Well for about the same price now you can get the 320mb 8800gts

ya thats true cadi. If you want kickass video card, go with the 8800gt 512

Yeah the 8800GT OC PCIE 2.0 is the best card right now for the 180-250$ range but right now you can get the 8800GTS for $100

me I have 2 ATI 3870's OC 512mb

but if I were buying a card today it would be dual 8800GT OC PCIE 2.0
or for less money and only about 15-20% less performance the 8800gts 320

crossfire works good almost doubles my frames

I have the 8500 GT all high settings and get good FPS.
